GCAO transfers employees to public media


Over one hundred employees of the recently defunct Government Communication Affairs Office (GCAO) have been transferred to three state-owned media organizations as of Monday, December 10, 2018, The Reporter has learnt. According to sources, all employees of the former communication office were transferred to the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC), the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) and the Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA). The Reporter confirmed from sources that EBC received around 56 employees, while EPA and ENA welcomed 57 and 61 employees, respectively. During her first presser held in early November, Billene announced the end of the Government Communication Affairs Office (GCAO), and explained the beginning of “a new structure” as Press Secretariat immediately taking over all the responsibilities of the GCAO. In addition to the traditional media channels, the Press Secretariat undertakes all government communications also channeled through various social media outlets as well.
