G20: China thinks we will yield on Huawei exec Meng Wanzhou, but that won't happen


The G20 summit has wrapped but tensions between China and Canada still remain, echoed by the lack of discourse between the two countries. Financial Post’s Larysa Harapyn sat down with Andrew Coyne, National post columnist, to talk about what happened with Canada at the recent summit. “The Chinese government seems to be of the belief that, one way or another, if they apply enough pressure that we will yield,” Coyne told Harapyn, referring to China capturing two Canadians seemingly in retaliation for Canada detaining Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou. “China is a very small part of our overall trade picture and is likely to remain so for many years to come.
