Furious islanders boycott Stornoway Tesco's ahead of first ever Sunday opening

There has been an alleged large boycott by angry shoppers of Tesco's store in the Outer Hebrides in the run-up to it opening on Sundays in the deeply religious islands. And Western Isles SNP councillor Gordon Murray and former councillor Charlie Nicolson said "dozens" of people had already stopped shopping at the Stornoway store. "It's not possible to balance opening the store on a Sunday and the views on the Sabbath," he said. Stornoway Community Council has urged the chain to reverse its decision. A sign protesting against Tesco's plans to open its store on Sundays has also been unfurled.
