Fuel prices fall in January offering some relief to motorists


The latest monthly fuel price survey from the AA shows a small reduction in fuel prices in January of approximately 4c per litre in both petrol and diesel. “After several months of relative stability, January has brought a modest reduction in fuel prices for motorists," an AA Ireland spokesperson said. Fuel prices do, however, remain high by historical standards.”The price of unleaded petrol, tracked by the Central Statistics Office, reached €1.76 in December. In the same month in 2015, the price was €1.30 per litre. In December 2015, the price of diesel was €1.19 and has risen over the past decade to €1.75.
