For instance, when palm oil prices plunged due to oversupply in 2019, the state ordered power plants managed by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand to switch to palm oil as a fuel. The Energy Ministry has been praised for using the Oil Fuel Fund to help solve environmental problems and improve the quality of petrol. Such a legacy should not be abandoned only to maintain the Oil Fuel Fund's balance sheet.
