(DAYMOND STEER PHOTO)FRYEBURG, Maine — This year's selectmen's race could turn into a referendum on Poland Spring, based on candidates' responses to questions at Tuesday's forum hosted by the Water District Trustees. Clarke, Klinepeter and Ricks attended Tuesday's forum. Poland Spring is looking at opening a multimillion-dollar bottling plant either in Fryeburg or elsewhere in Maine. Rebmann asked the candidates if they favored the public ownership of the Fryeburg Water Co.Klinepeter said he didn't see the need for that because Fryeburg Water Co.'s management company, Maine Waters, is doing a good job. Clarke said she would be willing to put the issue to voters if Fryeburg Water Co. were put up for sale.
