Heavy rain is expected in the west of the South Island but only scattered rain in the east. There could be heavy rain in the North Island. JOHN BISSET/FAIRFAX NZ Many areas are waking up to heavy frosts, particularly in the South Island. The NZ Transport Agency warned of ice on several sections of South Island highways.
