Frosts in some areas as summer takes a break

Summer took a short break yesterday morning, when some areas of Central Otago received a touch of frost. He said many places in Central Otago had minimum air temperatures as low as 2degC-3degC yesterday morning and minimum grass temperatures in some areas were below zero. ''Oamaru and Tara Hills both had light frosts. ''Tekapo got down to 0.4 degrees and Alexandra got down to 2.6 degrees and anywhere higher than Alexandra could have had frosts,'' Mr Coutts said. The forecast for today is for a return to summer weather, morning temperatures set to be much warmer because of a high moving in with light winds and no cloud.
