More heavy rain is on the way for parts of the country overnight Monday. MetService is predicting the heaviest rain overnight Monday and into Tuesday will be in northern Taranaki, Nelson, Buller, Westland and the Marlborough Sounds. The Tararua Range is expected to get heavy rain on Tuesday morning. Northerly gales could get close to severe gale strength in the eight hours from 1am Tuesday in Taranaki, Taihape, inland Whanganui, Wellington, southern Wairarapa, Marlborough and Nelson, MetService said. That can produce heavy rain."
