Drama is not new to Tamil Nadu politics. What we are witnessing in Tamil Nadu right now is not quite so linear and simple. All 134 AIADMK MLAs signed on the dotted line that Sunday night and Panneerselvam sent in his resignation to pave the way for Sasikala's election as chief minister. The Constitution is clear that any man or woman who enjoys majority support of legislators can be elected to the post of chief minister. If indeed there is strong public sentiment against Sasikala among the party's cadres and supporters, then the trickle of MLAs defecting to Panneerselvam's side should become a deluge.
