Previously, pedestrians on Nelson’s Hardy St wouldn’t have given the empty store at the entrance to Montgomery Square a passing look. For seven days Braunsteiner drew on the inside of the empty Hardy St store’s 12-metre long windows with white chalk. With bold lines and energetic cartoon figures, Punk it Up’s aesthetic was partially inspired by the works of Keith Haring, a popular ‘80s artist, Braunsteiner said. The Hardy St location is currently leased by Kismet Cocktail and Whisky Bar owner Nick Widley. Widley had leased the location before lockdown last year, with a plan to extend Kismet Bar into the former bakery.
