OPINION: Among the more irritating education fads is the idea that schools need to teach a “growth mindset”. But teaching a growth mindset is hard. Or, at least, it is hard to find any substantial benefit from “growth mindset” interventions. Right now, New Zealand’s universities are heavily into whatever is the opposite of a growth mindset. But doing it requires a shift from the government’s current deficit thinking to more of a growth mindset.
