It has also emerged that Simon Rawlinson was embattled in legal struggles with local authorities over access rights to his waterfront land on Maripipi Island. It also said that the New Zealand Embassy was in contact with Philippines authorities over the death. Before leaving New Zealand, Rawlinson owned property on Waiheke Island.
