Gicharu narrated his story to show people that they should believe in themselves by not giving up in what they do. ​In a tweet, the MKU chairman touched the hearts of many social media users after he narrated how he started selling milk to provide for his family after he was fired by the Teacher Service Commission (TSC) in 1995. The MKU Chairman went ahead and said that most of his friends made fun of him and branded him a ‘failed graduate’ but Gicharu says that did not put him down. “When I was fired by TSC in 1995, I started hawking milk in Thika to support my family. Gicharu later went on and founded one of the largest Private universities in Kenya, MKU, with over 52,000 students as of September 2015.
