Fresh twist in fake accounts case as two accused offer to testify against Zardari, Talpur


ISLAMABAD: An unusual development took place during the first hearing of the fake accounts case involving former president Asif Zardari when two accused women pleaded to become an approver. As the proceedings began today, two women namely Kiran and Noreen requested the court that they want to become an approver in the multi-billion rupee scam. Earlier on March 20, PPP workers and police clashed outside the National Accountability (NAB) court where Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have recorded their statements. THE CASE:n December 2015, the Federal Investigation Agency began a discreet investigation into certain bank accounts through which multi-billion rupee transactions have been made. Funds were credited into these accounts from contractors with multi-billion rupee contracts with the Sindh government.
