Pictures of decapitated bodies of many people killed overnight in Cameroon’s Anglophone region have been shared on the social media. The massacre reportedly happened in a Pinyin village. Pinyin villages are located southwest of Bamenda in the Santa Sub-division, the North West region of Cameroon. Why it matters: Anglophone activists from the South West and North West regions of Cameroon have been seeking independence from French speaking Cameroon since 2017. Cameroonian military has killed hundreds of activists while activists have armed themselves and gunned down many soldiers.
