Several weeks later, Ladbrokes admitted that a “technical glitch” could have led some of its punters “to believe that bets had been accepted” when in fact they had not been placed. The firm said that it had contacted all customers affected and made “goodwill” settlements in full on all bets that would have been winners. “I would say dozens of customers who had a bet cancelled in this manner have still not been paid or even contacted as claimed,” Fairhead said. “Tens of thousands of pounds are still at stake. Some people are now about to serve legal proceedings, but they shouldn’t have to go to court given Ladbrokes’ claim that they would pay all those affected.”Ladbrokes did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday.
