More British holidaymakers visited France last year than from any other country Gonzalo Fuentes/ ReutersBrexit is alarming French tourist officials amid evidence that British holidaymakers are staying away from France because of the weak pound. Officials anticipate a 6 per cent drop in the number of Britons buying holidays in France this year compared with 2016. The fall is of concern to the authorities in Paris because of the importance of British holidaymakers to the French economy. Of the 83 million tourists who visited France last year, 11.9 million were from the UK, more than from any other country. They help to sustain a tourist industry that accounts for 8 per cent of French national wealth and supports two million jobs.
