Norrie was in fine form against Gojowczyk and was in control before his opponent retired EPA/CHRISTOPHE PETIT TESSONCameron Norrie walked off Court 6 at Roland Garros yesterday having played, in his words, the best tennis of his life to win his first match here, and yet still he felt a sense of disappointment. Revelling in the experience of competing in the main draw at one of tennis’s most iconic venues for the first time, the 22-year-old Briton was a tad disgruntled when his first-round opponent, Peter Gojowczyk, the world No 43 from Germany, pulled the plug and walked towards the net to shake hands after only 41 minutes, retiring due to an apparent hip injury at 6-1, 2-0 down. Up until then, Norrie had barely put a foot wrong, recording a total of 19 winners and only two unforced errors.
