A freight train derailment in the capital’s Uttara area disrupted operations on one of the two rail lines at the Dhaka-Tongi junction on Monday morning. Kamalapur Railway Station Master Md Anowar Hossain said that the incident took place around 5:30 am in Uttara’s Azampur. The container train was on its way from Dhaka to Chattogram. The derailment caused delays as trains are now running in both directions on a single track, according to a bdnews24.com report. According to the station master, recovery efforts are underway to retrieve the derailed train and remove it from the tracks.
