This is the first ever European meeting between SC Freiburg and Maccabi Tel Aviv. Maccabi Tel Aviv have played four away major European matches in Germany previously and have lost all four, each time against a different side (Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart). SC Freiburg have won their last seven home UEFA Europa League matches, the longest ongoing run of any side. Maccabi Tel Aviv have conceded 18 goals in the UEFA Europa League this season, four more than anyone else. It’s the most goals they have ever shipped in a major European campaign.
