A democracy without a free press is no democracy at all. That is why it is more important now, than ever before, to uphold the sanctity of press freedom in Bangladesh. With Reporters Without Borders ranking us 146 in the world in the Press Freedom Index, it is crucial that the government takes note. Do we wish to live in a country where freedom is a myth? For press freedom to mean anything, unpopular speech must also be protected, and it is only through these freedoms that a society can truly grow and reach its potential.
