Freedom camping ban shifts travellers to Queenstown bungy bridgeDASHA KUPRIENKO/STUFF Queenstown Lakes District mayor Jim Boult is meeting with Minister of Tourism Kelvin Davis and 29 councils on Thursday to discuss freedom camping. Freedom campers are setting up shop by the Kawarau River bungy bridge, after being kicked out of other Queenstown locations. DASHA KUPRIENKO/STUFF The Queenstown Lakes District Council received 1070 submissions on its freedom camping survey. Boult said he hoped to achieve "uniformity" in freedom camping rules and enforcement across New Zealand as a result of the meeting. The council will review its Freedom Camping Control Bylaw and relevant aspects of its Reserves Management Plans later this year.
