Freedom camping French couple's special Christmas rendezvous

While children across New Zealand were waking up after a visit from Father Christmas, freedom camper Coralie Guyon was eagerly awaiting an extra special present - the arrival of her parents from France. It was the spot the French couple had specifically picked out to spend their Christmas Day with Guyon's parents, who they have not seen for six months. So far, Guyon and Dutheil have seen much of the North Island, including a stint spent working on a kiwifruit orchard in Opotiki. "Because we will never have a barbecue on Christmas Day again," Peussner explained. Before arriving in Taranaki, the friends travelled through Northland, the Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and also completed the Tongariro Crossing.
