Free wheeling: How a long-time urban cycling skeptic learned to embrace biking in the city

More intrepid friends have enumerated the virtues of city cycling to me for years, insisting it can be done responsibly, by any adult savvy enough to observe the rules of the road, and observant enough to keep an eye out for dangerous drivers. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft can be expensive and difficult to hail at peak times. And between gas, insurance and parking, owning a car is a luxury many of us living in downtown Toronto simply cannot afford. Cycling is healthy and active and an excuse to get some exercise and sun.
