More than 3000 vehicle owners will be offered free new Warrants of Fitness after an Invercargill tester had his inspection authority revoked due to the poor quality of his work. The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) announced this afternoon it had revoked Donald Stewart McLean’s vehicle inspecting authority, along with that of his business, The WOF Man Limited. In a statement, the NZTA said Mr McLean had a history of conducting poor quality Warrant of Fitness (WoF) inspections, resulting in upheld customer complaints. ''Mr McLean failed to properly inspect brakes, exhaust systems and corrosion repairs.'' The NZTA said they would be contacted and advised on recheck options, while vouchers for a free WoF voucher would be provided.
