Freddie Mac is providing financing for a portfolio of more than 300 rental homes under a now-defunct pilot program intended to help address the shortage of homes for middle-class families. Promise Homes, an Atlanta-based single-family rental owner, purchased the portfolio of homes spread out over the Atlanta metropolitan area and central Florida last year. Most of the homes are affordable to residents making less than 80% of the area median income and a number of residents also receive Section 8 rental-assistance vouchers.
