The French government is expected to open the borders to British travellers as early as Wednesday, sparking hopes it could save some of the ski-holiday season for tourists and operators. Alexandre Holroyd, the French MP responsible for expats in the UK, said the border would open “very soon” with more information in the coming days. Last week the Government eased restrictions slightly by allowing those from the UK with business reasons to enter the country. Now travel companies are optimistic an end to restrictions could help salvage the February travel period after visitor numbers plummeted in December and January. “We are expecting the French government to make an announcement this Wednesday to confirm that British vaccinated skiers can enter France from Saturday,” it said in a statement.
