Both of these expensive, kid-targeted/parent-approved holiday releases have benefited from the holiday season and the legs that go with that holiday season. Greatest Showman has earned $195 million worldwide on an $84m budget while Ferdinand has earned $207m worldwide on a $111m budget. That Fri-Sun figure that is ironically identical to the Wed-Sun debut number for The Greatest Showman. Anyway, Fox successfully used its sing-along version of The Greatest Showman to keep it in the spotlight for one more weekend. I'll argue the next logical step is to pair it with another kid-friendly Fox holiday release.
