D.C. police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said that it does not appear that Steven was the shooter’s intended target but that the investigation is in its early stages. Steven was embraced by everyone, including his fellow students at Friendship Collegiate Academy and his youth league football coaches, his relatives said. “They could feel his energy.”It was one of Steven’s friends, she said, who called her to say he might have been hit. Steven played cornerback on local youth football teams, including the Southeast Tarheels, a Ward 8 Pee Wee team. Now, she says, “it’s picking up.”Police are offering up to $25,000 for information about the shooting.
