Four on rioting charges given bail

Four people were released on bail today after appearing in court in Sha Tin charged with rioting at Chinese University last November, RTHK reports. They were arrested as police and protesters battled for hours on a footbridge over the Tolo Highway that links the university to the Science Park. No pleas were taken from the three men and one woman, aged 18 to 24, and the case was adjourned until May 29. The magistrate released the four on bail of HK$10,000 each and ordered them to report regularly to the police. They were also banned from leaving Hong Kong as the legal proceedings against them continue.
