Four people, including a couple and their six-month-old child, drowned in Lake Victoria when a boat capsized near Sirongo beach on Sunday evening. The fourth victim is said to have been a form three student of Gobei Secondary School. The group took a canoe with four other relatives who were rescued by fishermen in the incident in Bondo sub-county. Nyang’oma assistant chief Michael Osare said they had visited a family member on Sifu Island and were on their way back home. He said the survivors held on to the wreckage until the fishermen reached them.
