The health and family welfare ministry has made the doctors officers on special duty or OSD, a punitive action the government often takes against public servants, according to a notice issued on Sunday. The ministry ordered them to explain their absence without leave on Apr 24 and join the Directorate General of Health Services within seven working days. The four doctors are senior consultant at the hospital’s surgery department Md Akhter Hossain, junior consultants Md Shawkat Ali and Md Robiul Alam of cardiology department and medical officer ASM Sayem. The move follows a video of Mashrafe that went viral on social media. The captain of the One Day International team, who was elected to parliament from a Narail seat, is seen asking a doctor over phone why he was absent.
