Brad Feld, managing director of Foundry Group, led an $8.1 million funding round for Meru Health. With surging demand for counselling, a mental health startup has raised $8.1 million to offer virtual therapy. Venture capital firm Foundry Group led the funding, which values the startup at between $30 and $40 million, the firms said. In the first quarter of 2020, mental health startups raised $462 million across 30 transactions, compared to $750 million raised for all of 2019, according to What If Ventures, a firm that focuses on mental health startup investments. Its latest funding round follows a $4.2 million seed funding round in April 2019, which included investors Freestyle Capital, Bonit Capital, Y Combinator, Lifeline Ventures and IT-Farm.
