The year was 1976 and since then the idea has grown and expanded into the national organisation, Beat - now the UK’s leading eating disorder charity. Born and raised on the family farm in Oxfordshire, Nancy Barbara Ferris arrived into the world at the start of the Great Depression on February 11, 1930. Mr Pearce died in 2020 aged 94. Then in 1989, following a merger with another Norfolk charity, Anorexic Aid, Beat was born. Mrs Pearce died on October 8 aged 93 and leaves behind her children, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
