Founder’s death casts pall over children’s home - Nation

BUTTERWORTH: For the past 13 years, the Shammah Children Home in Bagan Ajam has been providing shelter to more than 60 underprivileged children. With the passing of the home’s founder Steven Joseph, his wife Mary Josephine Augustine, 44, will now manage the home full-time with the help from volunteers and three staff members. “He had given a lot of attention and love to the children since he founded the home in 2005. “Some of the younger children are now asking about his whereabouts. According to Mary, the home’s monthly expenses come up to about RM8,000 for food, clothing, school essentials, medical care and other expenses.
