Government employees except those providing emergency and essential public services will work from home starting today, Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor has announced. In a press conference this afternoon, Lam announced a series of measures to combat the surge in infected cases – 108 cases are reported today, including 83 local cases. Around 40 percent of civil servants will start working from home on Monday. The remaining will still work on site, including disciplinary services and those fighting the pandemic. Closure of 12 types of establishments including karaoke lounges, gyms and beauty centers will be extended for a week till Jul 28.
