Buried treasure is actually a part of the loot system and not a hidden battle star: the treasure map was one of the first items introduced this season. So to start with, you're going to need a treasure map: these drop either as floor loot or in chests, and they're not all that common. Once you're there, you can use your pickaxe to uncover some buried treasure that takes a little longer to open but yields better loot than a standard chest.
