Wilkinson was a past Liberal party president and deputy minister under Campbell before being first elected as a member of the legislature in 2013. He served in a number of cabinet positions, among them attorney general, minister of advanced education, and minister of technology and innovation. Liberal party is not affiliated with the federal Liberals.
