Former principal facing sex charges loses suppression

A former principal of a Canterbury school facing child sex charges from the 1990s lost name suppression today and admitted that some sexual activity happened with a boy. Michael William Hogan, 54, pleaded not guilty to nine sexual violation charges at Christchurch District Court this morning. Up until September last year, Hogan was principal of Prebbleton School in Canterbury. The charges relate to other schools he taught in in Southland between 1990 and 1995. In his last school newsletter he stated it was time to seek new challenges, but would never be far from education.
