Former top soldier Jonathan Vance was charged Thursday with obstruction of justice in an ongoing military police investigation, amid a sexual misconduct crisis that continues to rock Canada’s military. Vance retired as chief of the defence staff in January. The Canadian Armed Forces have been rocked by a sexual misconduct crisis this year. That review, led by retired Supreme Court Justice Morris Fish, had recommended an overhaul of the military justice system, including ensuring greater independence for military judges. “It’s showing there is a willingness to implement the Fish report, and what better case than Vance to send that message.”
