Former vice chancellor of Waikato University Emeritus Professor Roy Crawford died on Thursday night after a short illness. Many have paid tribute to Crawford's achievements, including University of Waikato Chancellor Rt Hon Jim Bolger. "Under Roy's leadership, the University of Waikato became a high performing university nationally and internationally," she said. Professor Harlene Hayne, current Chair of Universities New Zealand and Vice Chancellor of the University of Otago, said Crawford left a lasting legacy at both the University of Waikato and Universities New Zealand, an organisation he chaired in 2013.
