Former VP says he warned Ma against war with Wang

Former VP says he warned Ma against war with WangTAIPEI, Taiwan -- Former Vice President Wu Den-yih said yesterday that he had urged former President Ma Ying-jeou against launching influence peddling allegations against former Legislative Yuan Speaker Wang Jin-pyng. At the time, evidence of Wang's wrongdoing — a transcript of wiretapped conversation between Wang and DPP Legislator Ker Chien-ming — had appeared to implicate Ma himself in wrongdoing. Wu claimed that Ma's allegations against Wang were "the straw that broke the camel's back," inflaming the now widely-known political war known as the "Ma-Wang feud." Wu mentioned that back in September 2013, he had not wanted a feud between Ma and Wang, nor had he expected one. Wu commented that the Ma administration's second term would have been different had Wu stayed on as premier.
