CALGARY—The United Conservative Party’s election slate is full again after Matthew Jones stepped up to run in the Calgary-South East riding, replacing former candidate Eva Kiryakos. Kiryakos stepped down March 25, citing threats from outside the UCP to release her past social media comments about refugees, gay-straight alliances, and transgender washroom rights. Kiryakos and Ford, who both stepped down recently for expressing white nationalist and Islamophobic views online, will not be removed from the party, Kenney said Tuesday. One post shared by Kiryakos on Twitter talks about Germany’s “Muslim migrant rape crisis,” a conspiracy theory based on false reports.
