Former Shiromani Alali Dal (SAD) leader and Phillaur MLA Avinash Chander is set to join the Congress on November 29. Confirming this to HT, Avinash said this was decided after his recent meeting with Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh. Avinash, a former chief parliamentary secretary(CPS), resigned from the SAD on November 8 after he was denied party ticket. He will be the second SAD MLA to join the Congress after Kartarpur MLA Sarwan Singh Phillaur. Sources said Avinash is now eyeing the Congress ticket from Adampur assembly seat.
