A former NYPD cop is suing the force, claiming he is entitled to a disability pension for a heart problem which he says was caused by the stressful job and caused his weight to balloon to almost 400lbs at its peak. Jose Vega, 46, worked for the NYPD between 1997 and 2014. He however believes that he would not be obese if he had taken a different, less stressful job. 'In 2014 it became more severe and as a result, I gained 100lbs in a year,' Vega told DailyMail.com. The NYPD has not responded to the complaint he filed in New York's Supreme Court in February 2017.
