Since Sandberg stepped down from the C-suite, the company has evolved dramatically as a separate entity. Meta Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg has tried to make his culture more efficient and focused, after laying off thousands of employees. “After leaving my role as COO, I remained on the board to help ensure a successful transition.”Sandberg wrote that she plans to continue working as a consultant. Longtime Meta executive Xavier Olivan replaced Sandberg as chief operating officer, but took on a less externally visible role. Sandberg, who advocated for women's empowerment in the workplace, is leaving the board at a time when Silicon Valley is losing a generation of top female leaders.
