Former Jatiya Party (Ershad) legislator Abdul Kader Khan, who represented the same constituency, masterminded the killing with the help of seven accomplices, according to the chargesheet. Chandan Sarker is absconding while rest of the chargeheeted accused are in custody. Liton was a lawmaker of the ruling Awami League at Gaibandha-1 (Sundarganj) constituency. Kader, who was also a former MP from Sundarganj, was arrested in a Bogra clinic on Feb 21 this year. He confessed to killing MP Liton under Section 164 after facing interrogation in remand for several rounds.
