KARACHI: A bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday referred the bail petition of former local government secretary Roshan Ali Shaikh to the chief justice for a decision. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Shaikh along with two former officials of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) in August after the high court dismissed their pre-arrest bail applications in a reference of illegal allotment of 265 acres of state-owned land. The reference, approved for further investigation in 2018, accused the suspects of being involved in the illegal sale of the land situated at Deh Ghangiaro in Malir, Karachi. Shaikh had since been on interim bail before his arrest in August. A single-member bench comprising Justice Iqbal Kalhoro forwarded the plea to Chief Justice Ahmed Ali before adjourning the hearing till October 13.
