Speaking in an interview on Battle Ground on Radio XYZ, Mr Gidisu disclosed to host Oheneba Boamah Bennie that his constituents had been calling him to contest in the constituency primary. Mr Gidisu maintained he can close the votes gap between him and his opponent since former president John Mahama won massively in the constituency in 2016. The former MP is credited with the construction of classroom blocks, water facilities and markets for many communities in the Krachi East constituency as well as facilitating rural electrification projects for numerous villages. While a legislator, Mr Gidisu was able to distribute corn mills to serve about 80 communities in his constituency.
